Appearance
Standing at 5'7", Kombu has a relatively average appearance among Saiyans while still keeping a somewhat unique air among the people in his species. His pupils are black as coal, where his short messy hair keeps a dark chocolate color. Being born a natural warrior, the man's physique is muscle-bound while also keeping a more lean structure compared to the more brutish individuals of the Saiyan Race. His go-to clothing consists of a grey combat suit and Saiyan armor that is unique in design compared to most, colored with white, cerulean, and gold trim.
Personality
There has been a multitude of experiences that influenced Kombu's personality throughout his life. That much is true for every person in the world; a combination of parental teachings and life events, both working in unison to shape one's personality. For better, or worse.
There are many words that could describe the Earth-raised Saiyan, Kombu. Respect, kindness, compassion, loving, and friendly to name a few. Kombu was raised to have a good head on his shoulders. Naturally, because of his Saiyan Pride, he becomes thrilled by battle and lives to grow ever-stronger to face new challenges in his life. That being said, he knows the right moment when to reign his Pride in by the horns. This Saiyan will not needlessly throw his life away or put others in danger for the sake of having a better combat experience.
While it's normal for Saiyans to be elitist and claim to be the superior beings in the Universe (as most ignorant individuals do), Kombu's parents taught him not to judge a person on their background or their race, but to judge them based on their beliefs and their character. To extend kindness to all who deserved it; even some who did not. There are people who would swear up and down until blue in the face that kindness was a weakness. Kombu, and people like him, are living proof that it takes true strength to be kind when being cruel is too easy.
Mercy is one thing which Kombu holds close to his heart. The mysterious fighter showed mercy to his parents on their mission before their escape from Vegeta. In turn, Kombu will show mercy to all. Even if a person will throw it back in his face out of spite. He believes there can be good in everyone. This belief, however, might one day come back to bite him. As so far, he has not had to take a person's life. And he hopes to never have to.
Blame his Saiyan Pride, but 'give up' is not in Kombu's dictionary. He is ever-determined to give it his all in every battle near the end, especially if the lives of others are on the line. He does not easily retreat from battle. Kombu is a Saiyan, after all. Only when events are most dire, and there is nothing to do but retreat, he will only do so when he absolutely has to so he may become stronger and issue a challenge for a rematch.
History
Planet Vegeta. The homeworld of a race of warriors known as the Saiyans; humanoids with simian tails who enjoy the thrill of battle. It would be this planet where Kombu's story begins. Not through his own experiences, but from two Saiyans falling in love. His father, Leak, and his mother, Verna.
While most of the Saiyan Race could be described as bloodthirsty warriors who wanted nothing more than to subjugate and conquer the weak, Leak and Verna were among a handful of Saiyans who did not quite share the same views. While they did enjoy the thrill of combat, and tested their skills constantly against other warriors, they still had compassion and refused to kill just for the fun of it.
One night, the pair entered unattended space pods under the cover of darkness. They did not quite feel at home among their own people despite knowing that a portion of Saiyans shared the same views as them. Instead, they decided to start a new life somewhere fresh. And, after launching off of the planet they had come to know as home, Leak and Verna set a course for a hospitable world roughly a month's worth of travel away.
The lovers' space pods careened through the atmosphere of a green world covered mostly by water. Like falling stars, their pods lit up as they fell through the heavens. Eventually both crashed in the Southern Tropics on a large uninhabited island, creating craters in their wake. It would be on this island where Leak and Verna would begin their new lives.
Leak and Verna were soon blessed with the arrival of a son; Kombu. The pair made sure to raise him to have a good head on his shoulders. They made sure to teach him about good morals, and taught him about respect, honesty, kindness, compassion, dignity, as well as other important qualities to have. They also trained him how to fight from a young age. Like all Saiyans, they believed it was never too soon to become a fighter.
Now an adult, Kombu's dream is to continue to grow in power so that he can protect those who cannot defend themselves. He also dreams of one day exploring the cosmos to expand his worldview and live new experiences. Perhaps, someday, he will visit the homeworld of the Saiyans.
Techniques
[OT1] Kombu Combo: Kombu assaults his foe with a flurry of melee attacks, ki blasts, or both. It will always end with a hard right hook aimed at the enemy's jaw!
[OT1] Tsunami Cannon: Kombu pulls their right hand behind them and opens it to begin charging a powerful energy wave attack. A teal energy ball will form. Once the attack is ready, he will shove their hand forward to release the charged energy wave.
[OT1] Meteor Shower: Unlike Kombu Combo, the Saiyan fighter attacks using only his fists. His punches are thrown so fast that it conceives the illusion of having several arms and fists that pound into the opponent!
[ST] Flight: A natural ability that comes to all members of the Saiyan race. By manipulating ki, Kombu has the ability to fly. Thanks to the help of his parents, he was able to learn this technique by the age of three.
[ST] Energy Sensing: Through training from his parents, Kombu has learned the ability to sense for energy. Not quite as accurate as a scouter, Kombu is capable of gauging an estimate of just how powerful someone is, as well as their location.
[ST] Ki Suppression: Through intense training, the Saiyan Kombu has learned the ability to control his ki output. Namely, he has the capacity to hide his energy to the point of appearing incredibly weak in order to not keep a target on his back. While he does love a good fight, he is also smart enough to pick his battles.
Roleplay Sample
The distinct taste of iron assaulted Kombu's taste buds. He layed on the ground, panting. Covered in debris from the red earth of the Gizzard Wastes. Weary eyes wavering while the Saiyan looked at the blurred figure in the sky.
The man's chest spasmed a cough and crimson splattered out of his mouth. Forcing himself to sit up was a struggle. Every fiber of his being begged for rest. But he could not. Not now. Not when the Earth itself was in danger.
"You still up?" the shrill voice demanded from on high. "How? It not fair! You should be DEAD!"
This pulled a defiant chuckle from the Saiyan. "Yeah," he said with a wince, now standing at full height, "but I'm not. Maybe you didn't hit me hard enough."
The taunt resulted in the blue Majin letting steam billow from her pores in rage with a haunting whistle. "Fine!" she shouted. "I not hold back anymore! And I kill you! ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
"You'd better do your best, then!" Kombu retorted as he reached his right hand back with fingers splayed open. "Because I'll just keep getting back up to defeat you!"
A cerulean ki ball manifested in the Saiyan's palm. Energy swirled around it as it grew larger. The very ground beneath his feet underwent minor seismic activity from the pressure being created in that spot.
"I do hope that one day you'll see the error of your ways," Kombu lamented. "But you leave me no choice. This may not be enough to kill you, but it will knock some sense into you!"
The man's eyelids parted and his pupils shrank in anger. "Tsunami CANNON!"
